Basic Rules:
- Read first, post later.
- Read each forum description carefully to make sure you're placing your thread in the correct forum. "I'm new" doesn't fly with many forum goers as a reason for misplacing a thread.
- It is advisable to use the best spelling and grammar possible. This will give your post more credibility to forum regulars and they'll be nicer to you. Correct spelling and grammar helps get your point accross better and in the way you meant it.
- The forums are not always the nicest place. You must remember that this is the Internet and to take everything with a grain of salt. Don't fall apart if someone is mean to you.
- Be polite, even others aren't polite to you. Polite deviants are prefered to those who try to show off or try to be a smartass.
How do I get to the Forums?
Click the button that says Forum in the navigation bar at the top of most deviantART pages.
Things to consider before starting your own thread:
- When posting a thread, take a step back for a moment, and think to yourself, "Is this thread really going to get a good response? And is it really going to conduct useful conversation/dicussion?" If the answer to either of these is no, then it is a good idea to not post it. This will ensure your time in the forums to be the most enjoyable it can be.
- Look at the other threads in that Forum. Are there other threads already on your topic? If so, do not start your own; post in the existing thread(s).
- In Forums like the Politics Forum, is what you're posting about relevant - did it happen recently? If it didn't and you can't relate it to what's happening now, it's better not to post it.
- Read the "stickies" threads (the threads at the top of the forum) before writing your thread. Your topic may have already been covered there or it will guide you to the best way to present your idea.
